Bottarga

Bottarga is a delicious traditional food product of the fascinating Mediterranean coasts. It is made from the precious eggs of mullet, also known as mullet, or tuna, which are expertly salted and dried inside their egg sac. The word "bottarga" comes from the Arabic "buttarikh," which literally means "salted fish eggs."

Bottarga requires to be enjoyed exclusively raw to best appreciate its intensity of flavor. To create an outstanding appetizer, you can cut the roe into thin slices, dress it with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and serve it together with crispy bread croutons. A delicious alternative is to grate it as you would parmesan cheese and sprinkle it over a simple plate of spaghetti, resulting in a simple but character-packed preparation.
